Besides all the places mentioned below, shopping malls are good for entertainment. Watching a movie on a weekdays is affordable to most at 30.000 or 40.000 IDR, it’s also good English practice. Public transport can take you to any of the places recommended in this page. Visiting different parts of the city and talking with local Indonesians helps with learning the language and also learning more about the culture and history of Jakarta.

Tip: Many tourist attractions are closed on Mondays, so check if they are open before leaving.

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII)

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) “Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park” showcases Indonesian culture through architecture, clothing, dances and traditions.

There is also a lake, cable cars, museum, cinema, a theatre – “Theatre of My Homeland” (Theater Tanah Airku) and other fun things. TMII is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Jakarta.
